Lovely Plants for Your Patio

At Montano Homes, we want to build homes that our clients love to spend time in. Which is exactly why we prioritize creating homes with multiple spaces to enjoy in your downtime. Look at our floorplans or portfolio, patios and appealing outdoor spaces are a big part of our plans. This time of year is an ideal time to dress up your patio and one way to do just that is with the help of some potted plants. Here are some suggestions of great patio container plants that can provide sweet smelling flowers, bright foliage, and even some privacy.

Lavender

If you want your patio to be a calming and relaxing space, lavender is a great plant to keep around. Its strong fragrance has long been used in spa settings since it has been known to reduce anxiety. Dot a few large planters of this purple flower around your patio space for the ultimate start to a Zen surrounding.

Ornamental Grasses

If you crave a bit of additional privacy, some pots of ornamental grasses are perfect for that. Grasses like feather reed grow tall and produce feathery (hence the name) plumes that sway in the wind. They are low maintenance and add a bit of privacy as well as romanticism.

Hybrid Fuschia

If you want to add a pop of color to a shaded patio, hybrid fuschias are a fantastic option. These are usually kept in hanging baskets so that their bright pink pendant blossoms can be readily seen. They thrive in a bit of shade and do not require much care at all to produce a dazzling display of flowers. Just be mindful of the temperature because they do not tolerate temperatures below 50 degrees very well.

Cherry Tomatoes

Cherry tomatoes also make excellent patio plants. They produce bold colored fruit readily, which can add a wonderful punch of color to the area. Not to mention the fact that the fruit is incredibly delicious to eat, and many people love the sweet earthy smell they give off. Caprese salad, anyone?

Boxwoods

If you prioritize foliage over flowers, boxwoods are a great low maintenance option. These sculptural shrubs have long been a favorite since they can easily be trimmed into whatever shape you like best and provide elegance and added privacy wherever they are placed.

So go ahead! Get your patio dressed up for the summer with the help of one or two of these fantastic potted plants.
