Pests of all sorts can find their way into your home without your permission and sometimes, without your knowledge. Today we want to separate fact from fiction when it comes to the subject of pest control so that you can deal with unwanted guests properly.

Pests Are Only Drawn to Dirty Homes

Many people associate the presence of pests with dirty homes, but this is not the case. Pests like the same things you like. Warmth, food, safety. Those are all things that your house has. So really, pests can set up shop in any home

Cheese Is the Best Lure for Mice

Thanks in large part to old timey cartoons, many of us think that mice cannot resist cheese. Therefore, when mice start showing up in your home, your first thought is likely to be to lure them to a trap with cheese. There are far better lures for mice than cheese. Studies show that mice find foods that are high in carbs and sugar far more irresistible. So, the next time you want to lure a mouse to a certain place, try leaving out some peanut butter instead.

Poison Is Easier Than Traps

Poison does seem like the most hands off pest control option at first glance, but is it really? Upon further contemplation, maybe not. Once the mice consume the poison, they then go off to die in a quiet place. Usually this is in your basement or attic or wherever they were hiding in your home. Then you are left to participate in a macabre version of hide and seek once their rotting body starts to smell. If that does not sound like an activity you would like to participate in, setting a trap might be the simplest and most humane option.

All in all, pests can show up in any home, especially now that the weather is getting colder. If you see evidence of pests in your home, don’t believe these common myths. Once you know the truth about pest control, it makes it easier to deal with them. And when all else fails, don’t hesitate to enlist the help of an exterminator.

Montano Homes 2022 Year in Summary and Outlook to 2023

As the year 2022 winds down, we wanted to take a moment to look back on the year and the many achievements of Montano Homes as well as look ahead to what 2023 will bring. It is an exciting time for everyone at Montano Homes as we continue to grow as an organization. Over the next few years we are slated to build 138 brand new homes!

Earlier this year we saw the completion and close out of Elevations at Carson Farms West near Olde Town Arvada. Elevations at Carson Farms West Elevations consists of 18, Modern Farmhouse Paired Homes with spacious yards and finished walkout basements. This awesome enclave is located near vibrant Olde Town Arvada and the Olde Town Commuter Rail Station which provides convenient access to the Mountains and Downtown Denver.

With having such a beautiful and impressive community, home sales flourished at Elevations at Carson Farms West. Our New Home Sales Professional Daniel Strough was named a finalist for Salesperson of the Year by the Home Builders Association of Metro Denver. The award ceremony took place at the Denver MAME awards on November 5th in Downtown Denver. Although Daniel did not take home the award, this was a wonderful evening for all the members of the Montano Homes Team that attended.

Our next project that we will be selling is currently under construction in the Dayton Triangle in Arapahoe County. Elevations Highline East at Dayton Triangle features 16 paired homes with finished basements, designer selected finishes and private yards. With the anticipated delivery of our first homes scheduled for December 2022, homeowners could be enjoying their new home before the end of the holidays. In addition to the previously mentioned amenities, Elevations Highline East at Dayton Triangle is located in the prestigious Cherry Creek School District!

Looking ahead to 2023 we will highlight Elevations at Murphy Creek which will feature 54 paired homes right on the 13 th hole at Murphy Creek Golf Course. We will be offering 3 different floor plans which will feature private yards, loft/bonus spaces and luxurious interior finishes. This community will have their first phase of homes ready for delivery in the spring of 2023, just in time for some golf on the beautiful links style golf course!
